Description
1958 Gibson RB-250 banjo (FON 8-543-12).
According to banjophiles 70 of these were shipped in 1958. This banjo started out as a 4-hole archtop (typical bowtie of the era) and has since had a Gibson 19-hole flat head ring installed. Comes with factory installed cam-tuners which can be easily removed if preferred. This banjo had a sliding 5th string capo at one time and now has spikes at 7, 8, and 9. It has a Presto style tailpiece which can be replaced with a bowtie style if so desired. This banjo has been up and down the road as anyone would expect for this age and has the scratches and dings to prove it. It’s a really neat looking banjo with a great old flat head sound. New frets with zero wear. Ships with original case. I would be glad to remove the Cam Tuners and put them in the case to get them out of the way if preferred. Some people have asked about that.
