Description

1957 Gibson RB-250 5 String Banjo.  FON 7-5709-72

Former eBay listing:

1957 Gibson RB-250 Banjo Serial number 7-5709-72. This banjo has a Liberty 40 hole archtop tone ring and a Liberty tension hoop. It has a sliding 5th string capo and tensionator tailpiece. The frets were replaced several years ago and the instrument has not been played much since then so the frets are in excellent condition and the action is very good. It has Gibson Firbird tuning pegs which I believe are the correct tuners for this period Gibson Banjo. The head is a Ludwig Showcase and the bridge is an Emerson Power Bridge by Kelly Emerson. It has Scruggs tuners installed. T are a number of blemishes on the instrument due to it’s age and use. I’ve tried to supply enough pictures to show the condition of the instrument. The metal parts on the pot are in very nice shape. The resonator flange shows some sign of deformation as is typical of these banjos but has no breaksor cracks in it and the plating is in generally good shape with some minor scratches. The tension hoop, tone ring and hooks were replaced in the mid to late 1970sand are in very good condition.A Lifton hardshell case is included with the instrument. It is not the original case for the instrument but I believe it is the correct case for a Gibson of the bowtie period. The case is solid but covering is worn on the corners (particularly on the bottom side of the case)
