Description
1954 Gibson RB-250 with FON of 4-1465-37. Listed in 2010’s in Banjo Hangout classifieds.
This was the first year of the post-war Mastertone, and according to banjophiles, this is one of only 62 made that year. Apparently, it was formerly owned by Lonesome Will Mullins. His name was on the case and strap.
It has plenty of honest play wear and tear showing. Frets have some wear in the first few positions, but there’s no buzzing or other play-ability issues. Has normal finish checking.
Non-original parts – Presto tailpiece, geared 5th string tuner, and Snuffy Smith head (all upgrades in my opinion). The nut has also been replaced.
This is a great banjo, with a lot of vintage vibe that you just can’t get with newer instruments! If you love the early Dillard look and sound, this one has it!
