1949 Gibson RB150 5 string, FON 4518-6. This is a very early RB150 and shares the same no volute neck as does the early 1940’s RB75. Also, the banjo carries very early closed square boxed Kluson tuners. The banjo is in excellent condition with unflared flange, all original hardware (except for 5 string peg which is a vintage Grover replacement) and original rim. The rim and hardware (and possibly the neck), given the vintage of the banjo, are most likely prewar stock. The only two caveats with the banjo: The headstock had been broken off and professionally and expertly repaired (wood actually splinted). It’s sturdy and the touch up is excellent. It takes a serious examination to even notice where the break was. This was previously owned by the site owner.
